July 18, 2013. You've probably read on my previous blog how we travel from the Suvarnabhumi airport to our hotel. Let me show you the Place were we opt to stay for 2 nights and 2 days in Bangkok.
We arrived at the Unico Express Hotel at around 09:30PM BKK by a taxi via Makassan Station. The Hotel exterior is just average, well nothing extraordinary. There's a security guard along the road entrance and the hotel has enough parking space.
For this trip, we booked our hotel through Agoda.com. Their rate is reasonable. We booked an Economy (there's no point of getting a deluxe or executive room when traveling abroad as most of the time you are out of the hotel) room for 2 nights at Php 1,200/night. It's good value of money since there were 3 of us staying in the room so we could just share with the cost.
Don't worry about having more than 2 people (allowed number of guest) in the room as usually big Hotels never mind checking the number of guests who actually stay in their rooms. As long as you don't ask for extra bed, you won't be asked for extra charges. So better book for a hotel than an Inn/Pension House as they are keen in the number of guests staying in their room.
Old fashioned TV. Personal Ref. The Bathroom
This economy room is located at the top most level (9th floor) of the Hotel. There's no much of a view from our room as the window is very closed to the next building.

The hotel is centrally located in Soi 3 Sukhumvit - a place known for the vibrant night life and street parties in Bangkok. So after freshen up and changed clothes, we immediately went out from out hotel and started exploring the streets of Sukhumvit.
There were a couple of Taxi and Tuktuk (Thailand's version of Tricycle) drivers outside the hotel who offer transportation but they were all quite costly. Anyway, we already set our mind to wall so as we could experience how it feels to be walking in Bangkok. Then we started walking.....
Bangkok's mobile bar.
The streets of Bangkok is center to vendors - selling fruits, food, RTW, and other stuff. Also to note that prostitution is legal in Bangkok so expect to see Females and Shemales along the streets waiting for their customers. Actually, there's a lot of them.
So you better prepare yourself if you plan to roam around the streets of Bangkok at night. Men with big tattoos and trans-women with plunging neck line are the stars of the streets. Along the street sides you'd see pornographic materials - from video CDs to vibrators and other sex toys.
Anyway, let me shift your attention to their local food. Oh uh! we were already starving at that night since we had not eaten yet from the airport. So we keep on looking for convenience store to grab some drinks first. There were a number of stores in Sukhumvit, but we opted to buy at 7-eleven. Well, this is the only store we know hehe. You'd see 7-eleven everywhere in Bangkok! haha
